However, we hide many of their adverse effects on the body and knowing them can add reasons to reduce their consumption, so we give you 9 reasons to reduce diet soda consumption and benefit your health.

1- Excess sugar

After 40 minutes, the absorption of caffeine ends. Pupils dilate, pressure rises, and in response, the liver throws more sugar into the blood.

After 45 minutes, the body increases dopamine production, stimulating the pleasure centers in the brain. By the way, heroin works the same way.

2- Osteoporosis

Diet soda contain phosphoric acid, and a diet with high phosphate levels has been linked to broken bones and a higher chance of developing osteoporosis. When the phosphate is excreted through the urine, it pulls calcium with it, thus removing this essential mineral from the body.

3- Asthma

The benzoate sodium contained in carbonated beverages is a preservative, increases the overall sodium in the diet, and reduces our ability to absorb potassium. Some benzoate reactions include recurrent urticaria, asthma, and eczema.

These good reasons to understand the diet soda should not be present daily in our diet and much less, be the drink chosen to hydrate or drink habitually, because they can generate many more harmful effects than we believe and is not only due to high sugar content, but to its chemical compounds.

Therefore, choose more natural and healthy options such as water or fruit juice if we want something sweeter without harmful substances.
